United India Insurance - 225 Officer Posts, Gross Rs 1.10 Lakh, But You Need 60% in Your Degree

United India Insurance Company, a wholly Government-owned public sector general insurer with over 1,200 offices, is recruiting 225 Administrative Officers in Scale I. Reference HO:HRM:REC:AO:1:2026, dated 7 September 2026. Applications close 28 SEPTEMBER 2026. THE PAY IS THE HEADLINE. Basic pay runs on the scale Rs 82,485 to Rs 1,56,745, and the notification states GROSS PAY OF APPROXIMATELY Rs 1,10,000 PER MONTH at metropolitan centres. That is an officer-entry salary well above what most banking Scale I posts offer, and the post is permanent. ANY DEGREE QUALIFIES FOR THE 200 GENERALIST POSTS - engineering, arts, science, commerce, agriculture, data science, anything from a recognised university. But there is a marks bar, and it is firm. YOU NEED 60 PER CENT IN YOUR DEGREE - 55 per cent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. And the notification is blunt about rounding: 59.99 per cent WILL BE TREATED AS LESS THAN 60. The fraction is ignored, not rounded up. If you are at 59.5, this one is not for you. AND HERE IS THE RULE THAT WILL CATCH FINAL-YEAR STUDENTS. Unlike the SSC CHSL examination we posted today, WHERE APPEARING CANDIDATES MAY APPLY, UIIC says the opposite. Your qualification must be COMPLETED on or before 30.06.2026. Anyone who wrote their final examination by that date but whose result was declared after it is NOT ELIGIBLE. There is no provision for awaiting results here. THE 225 POSTS Administrative Officer (Generalists) - 200. Category split: UR 68, OBC 62, SC 30, EWS 22, ST 18. Eleven posts are reserved horizontally for PwBD candidates. Administrative Officer (Hindi Officers) - 25. Category split: UR 11, OBC 7, SC 4, EWS 2, ST 1. One post reserved horizontally for a VI candidate. The Hindi Officer posts need a Master's degree in Hindi or English with the other as a compulsory or elective subject, or a Master's in any other subject with Hindi or English medium and the other as a subject - all at the same 60 per cent bar. YOU CAN APPLY FOR ONE STREAM ONLY. Generalists or Hindi Officers, not both. Multiple registrations mean your candidature is cancelled. AGE IS 21 TO 30 as on 30 June 2026 - born between 30.06.1996 and 30.06.2005, both inclusive. Cumulative relaxation is available but the maximum age can never exceed 45. THE FEE IS NOT FREE FOR SC AND ST, WHATEVER YOU MAY READ ELSEWHERE. It is Rs 1,000 plus GST for everyone else. SC, ST and PwBD candidates pay NO application fee but still pay Rs 250 in service charges plus GST. Women are not exempt. SELECTION IS THREE STAGES. Preliminary Examination on 22 OCTOBER 2026 (tentative), Main Examination with an objective and descriptive paper on 30 NOVEMBER 2026 (tentative), then an interview. Negative marking is one quarter of the marks per wrong answer in both online papers. IMPORTANT: THE PRELIMINARY MARKS DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS FINAL MERIT. Final merit rests on the Main Examination objective test and the interview alone. The Preliminary and the Descriptive Test are qualifying only. THE BOND. Probation is one year, during which you must pass the non-life Licentiate Examination of the Insurance Institute of India. There is a FIVE-YEAR service bond: resign early and you owe liquidated damages up to one year's gross salary, PLUS Rs 35,000 towards onboarding and integration cost. Know that before you accept. What you'll do

• Serve as an Administrative Officer, Scale I, on the permanent rolls of United India Insurance Company, a wholly Government of India owned general insurer
• Work in the Generalist or Hindi Officer discipline you are recruited into, across the Company's 1,200-plus offices and service hubs
• Complete a one-year probation and pass the non-life Licentiate Examination of the Insurance Institute of India within it
• Execute a five-year service bond before joining as a probationer
• Accept posting or transfer to any place in India as the Company decides - no requests or representations are entertained

What we're looking for

• ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER - GENERALISTS, 200 POSTS
• A Graduate or Post Graduate degree in ANY discipline - including but not limited to Engineering, Arts, Science, Commerce, Agriculture and Data Science - from a recognised university, with A MINIMUM OF 60 PER CENT MARKS (55 per cent for SC, ST and PwBD candidates) in either degree examination.
• Category split: UR 68, OBC 62, SC 30, EWS 22, ST 18. PwBD horizontal reservation: VI 2, HI 2, OC 4, MD/ID 3.
• ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER - HINDI OFFICERS, 25 POSTS
• A Master's degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium at degree level; OR a Master's in English with Hindi likewise; OR a Master's in any other subject with Hindi medium and English as a subject; OR a Master's in any other subject with English medium and Hindi as a subject; OR a Master's in any other subject with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects. All at 60 per cent (55 per cent for SC, ST, PwBD).
• Category split: UR 11, OBC 7, SC 4, EWS 2, ST 1. One post reserved for a VI candidate.
• THREE RULES THAT DISQUALIFY PEOPLE
• 1. THE 60 PER CENT IS ABSOLUTE. Where CGPA or OGPA is awarded you must produce a university conversion certificate, and the notification states that the fraction of percentage is IGNORED - 59.99 per cent is treated as less than 60.
• 2. AWAITING YOUR RESULT MAKES YOU INELIGIBLE. The qualification must have been COMPLETED on or before 30.06.2026. Candidates who wrote their final examination by that date but whose results were declared afterwards are expressly NOT eligible.
• 3. ONE STREAM ONLY. A candidate may apply and appear for either Generalists or Hindi Officers, never both. Multiple registrations or appearances mean cancellation of candidature.
• Working knowledge of computers is compulsory. Qualifications must be from a UGC or AICTE recognised institution under the 10+2+3 pattern or equivalent.
• AGE
• 21 to 30 years as on 30.06.2026 - born not earlier than 30.06.1996 and not later than 30.06.2005, both inclusive. Where a candidate qualifies for relaxation under more than one category the relaxation is cumulative, but the maximum age can in no case exceed 45.
• PAY AND BENEFITS
• Basic pay scale: Rs 82,485 - 4,050(14) - 1,39,185 - 4,390(4) - 1,56,745.
• GROSS PAY APPROXIMATELY Rs 1,10,000 PER MONTH at metropolitan centres.
• Gratuity, leave travel subsidy, medical benefits, group personal accident insurance, National Pension System and leased accommodation as per Company rules.
• PROBATION AND BOND
• Probation is one year, extendable at the Company's discretion, and the Company may terminate an unsuitable candidate at any time during it without notice or reason.
• You must pass the non-life LICENTIATE EXAMINATION of the Insurance Institute of India during probation; failure within the extended probation period has consequences for your appointment.
• A FIVE-YEAR GUARANTEE BOND is signed before joining. Resign before five years and you owe liquidated damages equal to the actual gross salary paid, capped at one year's gross salary, PLUS Rs 35,000 towards onboarding and integration cost. Damages reduce proportionately if you leave after completing one year.
• SELECTION
• Tier I Preliminary Examination, 100 marks, one hour, three sections - 22 October 2026 (tentative).
• Tier II Main Examination, objective plus descriptive - 30 November 2026 (tentative). For Generalists the objective test carries 250 marks and the descriptive 30; for Hindi Officers 200 and 50.
• Then an interview.
• Negative marking of one quarter of the marks allotted applies to both online examinations.
• FINAL MERIT IS THE MAIN EXAMINATION OBJECTIVE TEST PLUS THE INTERVIEW ONLY. Marks in the Preliminary Examination and in the Descriptive Test are not counted towards the final merit list.
• Category-wise vacancies are provisional and may vary or be interchanged at any stage. EWS vacancies are tentative and subject to Government directives and litigation.
