The Akademi's own notice says 21 SEPTEMBER 2026 - the advertisement was published on 22 August and runs for thirty days. That is a full month's difference on a live deadline. Work to September. SECOND, AND THIS IS THE ONE THAT WILL WASTE PEOPLE'S TIME: THE TWO MOST ACCESSIBLE POST GROUPS HAVE NO OPEN MERIT SEATS AT ALL. Multi-Tasking Staff, 6 posts - three OBC and three EWS. No unreserved seat. Junior Clerk, 4 posts - one OBC, one SC, one ST, one EWS. No unreserved seat. If you are a General category candidate without an EWS certificate, those ten posts are closed to you no matter your marks. Check your category against the post before you prepare anything. THIRD: THERE IS NO POSTING IN JAMMU & KASHMIR, OR ANYWHERE IN NORTH INDIA EXCEPT DELHI. The Akademi's offices in this advertisement are the Head Office at New Delhi, Regional Offices at Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru, and a Sub-Office at Chennai. Every one of the 30 posts sits at one of those five cities, and the notice names the exact city against each. Treat this as a relocation. Level-6 posts at Rs 35,400 to 1,12,400 - Publication Assistant 5 (Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru), Senior Library & Information Assistant 2 (Mumbai, Kolkata), Junior Translation Officer 1 (Delhi), Technical Assistant 1 (Delhi), Programme Assistant 1 (Bengaluru). Level-4 posts at Rs 25,500 to 81,100 - Stenographer Grade II 4 (Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai), Proof Reader cum General Assistant 2 (Kolkata, Mumbai). Level-2 posts at Rs 19,900 to 63,200 - Junior Clerk 4, Messenger cum Rider 1 (Delhi), Van Driver 1 (Delhi). Multi-Tasking Staff - 6, Level-1, Rs 18,000 to 56,900, at Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata. One of the Kolkata seats is reserved for a PH candidate. WHY IT IS WORTH A LOOK ANYWAY. These are permanent central government posts on the 7th CPC pay matrix in a national cultural institution, and the competition for a body like the Akademi is a fraction of what an SSC or Railway advertisement attracts. For a Stenographer, a Proof Reader or a Publication Assistant willing to move to Delhi, that is a real opening. HOW TO APPLY - AND A HONEST WARNING. The notice states that applications must be submitted ONLY on the prescribed proforma available on the Akademi's website, and that full eligibility details are on the website rather than in the notice itself. We were not able to locate that detailed eligibility document or the proforma on sahitya-akademi.gov.in at the time of writing. Go to the website, find the proforma under Recruitments, and read the post-wise eligibility there before you apply. Do not rely on qualification figures quoted by job sites for this one - they are not in the Akademi's published notice.

• Serve in a permanent post of Sahitya Akademi, the National Academy of Letters, an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India
• Support the Akademi's work of preserving and promoting literature in the twenty-four Indian languages it recognises - through awards, fellowships, grants, publications, literary programmes, workshops and exhibitions
• Work in the function you are recruited into - administration, editing, library and information, translation, publication, programmes, stenography, proof reading, clerical work, driving or multi-tasking support
• Serve at the office named against your post: the Head Office at New Delhi, or a Regional Office at Mumbai, Kolkata or Bengaluru, or the Sub-Office at Chennai

• THE RESERVATION POINT THAT MATTERS MOST
• MULTI-TASKING STAFF AND JUNIOR CLERK - the ten posts at the lowest qualification levels - CARRY NO UNRESERVED SEAT BETWEEN THEM. All six MTS posts are OBC or EWS; all four Junior Clerk posts are OBC, SC, ST or EWS. A General category candidate with no EWS certificate cannot apply for any of those ten.
• Open Merit candidates should look instead at Deputy Secretary, Assistant Editor, Junior Translation Officer, Programme Assistant, three of the five Publication Assistant posts, two of the four Stenographer posts, one Proof Reader post, Messenger cum Rider and Van Driver.
