Punjab National Bank is recruiting Local Bank Officers in JMG Scale-I under its notification dated 20 July 2026. Of the 545 posts nationally, Jammu & Kashmir has 9, and the mandatory language for them is Urdu, Dogri or Kashmiri - these are J&K seats, not a share of a national pool. Read the category split before you apply: all 9 are reserved. Open Merit is nil. The seats are SC 2, OBC 5 and EWS 2, with one of the nine also earmarked horizontally for a candidate with an orthopaedic disability. A corrigendum issued by the bank makes clear that this is not a fresh recruitment - it fills the vacancies left unfilled from PNB's advertisement of 03 November 2025, which is why the remaining seats sit only in the categories that did not fill. The closing date has been extended to 16 August 2026.

• The role is a branch banking officer post in the Junior Management Grade

What we're looking for

• A graduate degree in any discipline from a university or institution recognised or approved by the Government of India
• One year of post-qualification work experience in the Clerical or Officer cadre of a Scheduled Commercial Bank, or a Regional Rural Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934. This is not an entry-level post - a fresh graduate is not eligible
• Proficiency in the mandatory language for J&K - Urdu, Dogri or Kashmiri - in reading, writing and speaking
• Age 20 to 30 years, with the usual relaxations for reserved categories
• Because every J&K seat is reserved, a valid SC, OBC or EWS certificate is not supporting evidence here - it is the entry condition. A candidate outside those categories has no seat to apply against in J&K
• Application fee Rs 1,000 plus 18 per cent GST, Rs 1,180 in total, with a concessional charge for SC, ST and PwBD candidates. Non-refundable
