J&K Bank is engaging 8 people on contract - 6 Zonal Security Officers and 2 Financial Literacy Counsellors. Detailed notification dated 10 September 2026. Applications run 11 SEPTEMBER to 25 SEPTEMBER 2026. READ THE ELIGIBILITY BEFORE YOU GET EXCITED, BECAUSE THE LISTINGS ELSEWHERE ARE MISLEADING. Several job sites are carrying this as "8 posts, Any Graduate". That is true only in the narrowest sense. SIX OF THE EIGHT POSTS ARE FOR RETIRED SENIOR POLICE, ARMY OR PARAMILITARY OFFICERS. For Zonal Security Officer the Bank asks for a graduate in any discipline WHO HAS HELD THE RANK OF DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE OR EQUIVALENT in the Police, Army or Paramilitary forces, with an excellent or meritorious service record and a MINIMUM OF THREE YEARS AT THAT RANK. If you have not served at DSP level or its equivalent, these six posts are not open to you, whatever your degree. THAT LEAVES TWO POSTS GENUINELY OPEN TO AN ORDINARY GRADUATE. The Financial Literacy Counsellor posts - one at Lead District Office Baramulla and one at Lead District Office Bandipora - ask for a graduate from a recognised institute with a MINIMUM OF ONE YEAR of work experience in banking or a related field: financial planning, insurance, investment, fintech or law. You also need working knowledge of computers and knowledge of the local language. WHERE THE POSTS ACTUALLY ARE Zonal Security Officer, one for each zone: ZONAL OFFICE SRINAGAR, ZONAL OFFICE ANANTNAG, ZONAL OFFICE LADAKH, and then Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. Financial Literacy Counsellor, one for each Lead District Office: BARAMULLA and BANDIPORA. So five of the eight sit in J&K and Ladakh; three are outside. THE PAY, AND WHAT IT DOES NOT INCLUDE Zonal Security Officer: Rs 45,000 per month fixed, with TA and DA admissible for official tours and visits. The notification states plainly that NO SUPERANNUATION BENEFITS - no pension, no provident fund, no gratuity - will be payable. Financial Literacy Counsellor: Rs 22,000 per month fixed, plus monthly conveyance, mobile and telephone charges, and performance-linked incentives. For both, the remuneration is FIXED FOR THE ENTIRE CONTRACT PERIOD. The Bank states it will entertain no request for pay and perks as paid to its regular employees, and no revision of the fixed remuneration during the engagement. THIS IS PURELY A CONTRACT ENGAGEMENT. The tenure is up to a maximum of THREE YEARS from the date of joining, subject to an annual satisfactory performance review. And the notification is explicit that THERE WILL BE NO RENEWAL on completion of the contract - a fresh engagement exercise is undertaken after three years. Do not treat this as a route into a permanent J&K Bank job. AGE: maximum 62 years as on 01.01.2026, for both posts. That upper limit tells you who the Bank has in mind. What you'll do

• Serve on contract with Jammu & Kashmir Bank in the zone or lead district office to which you are engaged
• As Zonal Security Officer, oversee security arrangements for the Bank's zone, undertaking official tours and visits as required
• As Financial Literacy Counsellor, deliver financial literacy work through the Lead District Office, drawing on banking, insurance, investment or fintech knowledge and the local language
• Serve up to a maximum of three years from joining, subject to an annual satisfactory performance review

What we're looking for

• THE 8 POSTS - AND WHO CAN ACTUALLY APPLY
• ZONAL SECURITY OFFICER - 6 posts, one for each zone
• Zonal Office SRINAGAR, Zonal Office ANANTNAG, Zonal Office LADAKH, Zonal Office DELHI, Zonal Office MUMBAI, Zonal Office BANGALORE.
• Qualification: a graduate in any discipline from a recognised institute.
• AND - this is the part that rules most people out - the candidate must have been IN THE RANK OF DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT OF POLICE (DSP) OR EQUIVALENT in the Police, Army or Paramilitary forces, with an excellent or meritorious service record, and a MINIMUM OF THREE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE at that rank.
• A degree alone does not qualify you for these six posts.
• FINANCIAL LITERACY (FL) COUNSELLOR - 2 posts, one for each Lead District Office
• Lead District Office BARAMULLA and Lead District Office BANDIPORA.
• Qualification: a graduate from a recognised institute.
• AND a minimum of ONE YEAR of work experience in banking or a related field - financial planning, insurance, investment, fintech or law.
• AND working knowledge of computers.
• AND knowledge of the local language.
• These are the two posts open to an ordinary graduate.
• AGE
• Maximum 62 years as on the cut-off date of 01.01.2026, for both posts.
• REMUNERATION
• Zonal Security Officer: Rs 45,000 per month, fixed. TA and DA admissible for official tours and visits. NO superannuation benefits - the notification states that no pension, provident fund or gratuity will be payable.
• FL Counsellor: Rs 22,000 per month, fixed. Plus monthly conveyance, mobile and telephone charges, and performance-linked incentives.
• For both posts the remuneration is FIXED FOR THE ENTIRE CONTRACT PERIOD. The Bank will not entertain any request or claim for the pay and perks given to its regular employees, and no revision of the fixed remuneration or allowances will be entertained for the whole engagement.
• CONTRACT TENURE - AND NO RENEWAL
• The engagement is on a PURELY CONTRACT BASIS for a maximum of THREE YEARS from the date of joining, subject to annual appraisal and review to decide whether the contract continues.
• The notification states there will be NO RENEWAL of the engagement on completion of the contract, and that a fresh engagement exercise will be undertaken after three years.
