Indian Overseas Bank is recruiting 291 officers, and the largest block - 100 Manager posts in Branch Management - asks only for a degree in any discipline alongside banking experience. Advertisement HRDD/RECT/04/2026-27, dated 28 August 2026. Be clear on two things before you spend the fee, because both matter more here than the headline. THIS IS NOT A FRESHER'S ADVERTISEMENT. Every one of the 291 posts requires experience. The 100 Branch Management posts need THREE YEARS as an officer in a scheduled public sector or private sector bank, with at least two of those in branch banking. The IT and information security posts want five years or more. If you are not already working as a bank officer, there is nothing in this one for you. AND THERE IS NO EXAM CENTRE IN JAMMU & KASHMIR. The Bank has identified six centres for the whole country - Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. Delhi is the nearest, and the notification states plainly that you attend at your own risk and expense. Contrast that with the IBPS RRB advert we posted this morning, where Srinagar is a centre. If you clear both of those, it is a strong opening. The breakdown: Manager (Branch Management) 100, Manager (IT) 65, Manager (Credit) 35, Assistant Manager (Security) 25, Senior Manager (Credit) 15, Senior Manager (IT) 10, Senior Manager (Database Administrator) 10, Senior Manager (Risk) 6, and smaller counts across network, cyber security and information security roles. Across all 291: UR 117, OBC 79, SC 46, EWS 28, ST 21, with twelve reserved horizontally for PwBD candidates. Post Code 01 is the only generalist role - everything else is a specialist officer post. Age for Branch Management is 23 to 33 as on 1 August 2026, with other posts running to 45 by grade and specialisation. Selection is an online examination followed by an interview, weighted 80:20. Probation is six months, and Branch Management appointees are placed as Branch Head after it. Posting is anywhere in India. The fee is Rs 1,000, or Rs 175 for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Note that women are NOT exempt on this one. Applications run 29 August to 15 SEPTEMBER 2026 - and note that date, because several job sites are reporting 29 September. What you'll do

• Serve as an officer of Indian Overseas Bank in JMG Scale I, MMG Scale II or MMG Scale III
• For the Branch Management post, take charge as Branch Head on completing probation
• Handle the function you are recruited into - branch banking, credit, risk, IT, database, network, cyber security, information security, information security audit or security
• Complete a minimum six-month probation under the Officers' Service Regulations
• Accept posting anywhere in India, on the terms the Bank decides from time to time

• EVERY POST NEEDS EXPERIENCE - THERE IS NOTHING HERE FOR A FRESHER
• The largest post, Manager (Branch Management) with 100 vacancies, asks for a degree in any discipline PLUS three years as an officer in a scheduled public sector or private sector bank, of which at least two years must be in branch banking. Experience as a Scale I Branch Head is preferred.
• The IT and information security posts ask for five years of post-qualification IT experience or more, with at least three in a specified domain. The credit, risk and security posts carry their own bars. Read the post you are applying for in the notification - the requirements differ post by post and the Bank checks them.
• AGE, as on 01.08.2026
• Manager (Branch Management): 23 to 33 years. Other posts run to 45 depending on grade and specialisation. Relaxation for reserved categories applies as per Government guidelines.
• PROBATION AND POSTING
• Probation is a minimum of six months. Posting is anywhere in India, and successful Branch Management candidates are placed as Branch Head on completing probation.
• SELECTION
• An online examination followed by an interview. The final merit list weights the online examination at 80 per cent and the interview at 20 per cent.
• THE EXAMINATION CENTRES - THIS IS THE CATCH FOR CANDIDATES HERE
• There are only SIX centres in the entire country: Delhi/NCR, Mumbai/Navi Mumbai/Thane, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. NOTHING IN JAMMU & KASHMIR, and nothing in north India outside Delhi. Delhi is the nearest, and the notification records that a candidate appears at the centre at their own risk and expense.
