About this job
The J&K Services Selection Board has advertised 357 divisional cadre posts for the Public Works (R&B) Department under Advertisement Notification No. 06 of 2026, dated 06 July 2026. There are two posts only - Draftsman (Civil), 97 in all, and Works Supervisor, 260. The Kashmir division's own share is 115 of the 357: 49 Draftsman and 66 Works Supervisor, with the remaining 242 going to Jammu division. Both are divisional cadre appointments, so a candidate competes within the division applied for rather than across the UT. Applications are made online at jkssb.nic.in between 01 August and 30 August 2026.
What you'll do
- Draftsman (Civil) - 97 posts: Kashmir division 49, Jammu division 48. Pay Level-4
- Works Supervisor - 260 posts: Kashmir division 66, Jammu division 194. Pay SL-2
- Indenting department: Public Works (Roads & Buildings) Department
- Both posts are divisional cadre - the division you apply for fixes the vacancy pool you compete in
- 115 of the 357 posts are for the Kashmir division
What we're looking for
- Draftsman (Civil) - a two-year Draftsman Training Course certificate or diploma from any government-recognised institute. Note that the notification names the Draftsman Training Course specifically; a Diploma in Civil Engineering is not listed as an alternative
- Works Supervisor - Matriculation or its equivalent from any recognised institute or university, together with an ITI certificate in the Building Construction or Carpentry trade. The notice adds that the ITI certificate must be issued by the J&K Board of Technical Education (JKBOTE) or by the Director General of Training
- Age as on 01.01.2026 - Open Merit 40 years maximum
- SC, ST-1, ST-2, RBA, ALC/IB, EWS and OBC - 43 years maximum
- Physically challenged (PwBD) - 42 years maximum
- Application fee Rs 600; for candidates in SC, ST-1, ST-2, EWS and PwBD the fee is Rs 500, payable online only
- Selection is on merit in the written / OMR examination alone, with negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to each question wrongly answered
