CPRI - 110 Posts, 37 Need Only Matric, But All 14 MTS Seats Are for Ex-Servicemen

Central Power Research Institute, an autonomous society under the Ministry of Power, has notified 110 permanent-track posts. Advertisement No. CPRI/06/2026 dated 19.09.2026. Online registration opened at 10:00 AM on 19 September 2026 and closes at 5:00 PM on 12 October 2026. The widest door on this advertisement is Technical Attendant Grade 1: 37 posts, and the only essential qualification is Matriculation. Age up to 30, Level 1, Rs 18,000 to Rs 56,900. BEFORE YOU APPLY - THREE THINGS THE ADVERTISEMENT MAKES CLEAR 1. The 14 MTS posts are NOT open to you unless you are an ex-serviceman. Every one of the Multi-Tasking Staff (Watch & Ward) posts is reserved for Ex-servicemen. Aggregators listing "MTS" as a 10th-pass opening are leaving that out. 2. Assistant Grade II needs a specific computer certificate. Besides a FIRST CLASS BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BBM or BCA, you must hold at least a Grade-B certificate in the Basic Computer Course (BCC) conducted by NIELIT by the closing date. The advertisement states that only the NIELIT BCC will be accepted and no other computer course. A DCA, a PGDCA or a private institute certificate does not count. 3. Engineering Officer is selected on GATE score alone. You need a valid GATE score of 2024, 2025 or 2026 in Electrical or Civil. There is no separate CPRI exam for it. There is no CPRI unit in J&K. The head office is Bengaluru, with units at Bhopal, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Nashik, Noida, Kolkata, Guwahati and Raipur, and CPRI can post you to any of them. The computer based test is held in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Bhopal, Delhi and Kolkata - Delhi is the nearest for candidates from J&K, though CPRI says it may allot a centre other than the one you choose. First class degree plus NIELIT BCC Grade-B. Age 30. Level 4, Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100. CBT only. 2 posts for PwBD-VI, 1 for PwBD-LD, 1 for ex-servicemen. MTS Gr.1 (Watch & Ward) - 14 (UR 7, OBC 5, EWS 2). ALL reserved for ex-servicemen. Matric. Age 25. Level 1. CBT plus trade or proficiency test. Engineering Assistant (Electrical) - 10 (UR 5, SC 2, OBC 2, EWS 1). First class 3-year diploma in Electrical plus 5 years experience. Age 35. Level 6, Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400. CBT plus practical skill test. 2 posts for PwBD-LD. Engineering Officer Gr.1 (Electrical) - 7 (UR 3, EWS 4). First class BE or B.Tech in Electrical or EEE plus valid GATE EE score. Age 30. First class BE or B.Tech Civil plus valid GATE CE score. Age 30. Level 7. 37 + 29 + 14 + 10 + 7 + 7 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 = 110, matching the advertisement. CPRI notes the vacancy numbers are provisional and may be increased or decreased. FEE Rs 1,000 for Engineering Officer, Scientific Assistant and Engineering Assistant. Rs 700 for Technician, Assistant Gr. II and Technical Attendant. Both inclusive of GST, per post. SC, ST, PwBD, ex-servicemen and women are exempt. The fee is non-refundable once paid, and a registered application cannot be withdrawn. All posts carry a two-year probation and service benefits of leave, LTC, medical and allowances as per Government of India norms. A tie in CBT or GATE score is broken in favour of the older candidate.

What you'll do

• Engineering Officer and Engineering Assistant: testing, certification and applied research on power equipment in CPRI's laboratories
• Scientific Assistant: chemistry laboratory work supporting power equipment testing
• Technician Grade 1: electrical or mechanical trade work in testing laboratories and plant
• Technical Attendant Grade 1: support duties in CPRI's technical laboratories
• Assistant Grade II: office and administrative work
• MTS Grade 1 (Watch & Ward): security and watch duties, for ex-servicemen only
• CPRI reserves the right to post appointees to any of its offices in India - Bengaluru, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Nashik, Noida, Kolkata, Guwahati or Raipur

• Engineering Officer Gr.1 (Electrical) - age 30: First class BE or B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering, plus a valid GATE score of 2024, 2025 or 2026 in Electrical Engineering. Selection on GATE score.
• Engineering Officer Gr.1 (Civil) - age 30: First class BE or B.Tech in Civil Engineering, plus a valid GATE score of 2024, 2025 or 2026 in Civil Engineering. Selection on GATE score.
• Scientific Assistant - age 35: First class B.Sc. in Chemistry plus 5 years of experience in the relevant field.
• Engineering Assistant (Electrical) - age 35: First class 3-year diploma in Electrical plus 5 years of relevant experience.
• Engineering Assistant (Mechanical) - age 35: First class 3-year diploma in Mechanical plus 5 years of relevant experience.
• Technician Gr.1 (Electrical) - age 28: ITI trade certificate in Electrical.

• Technical Attendant Gr.1 - age 30: Matriculation or equivalent. Desirable: a two-year ITI in Electrical or Mechanical.

• SELECTION
• Engineering Officer: GATE score.
• Engineering Assistant and Scientific Assistant: Computer Based Test plus a job-specific practical skill test.
• Technician: CBT, plus a qualifying Trade Test.
• Technical Attendant and Assistant Gr. II: CBT only.
• MTS: CBT plus a Trade or Proficiency Test.
• Ties are broken in favour of the older candidate.
• OTHER CONDITIONS
• Qualifications must be from an institution recognised by the Government of India, UGC, AICTE or a State Government. Serving government, PSU, bank or autonomous body employees need a No Objection Certificate. OBC candidates must hold a current OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate for Central Government posts, or they are treated as UR. The category you enter cannot be changed later. Experience certificates must be on the organisation's letterhead showing post, period, gross emoluments and area of work, with supporting documents such as EPF records.
