About this job
Airports Authority of India is taking 205 apprentices into its Northern Region for 2026-27, and J&K domiciles are eligible on the same footing as everyone else in the region. Srinagar, Jammu, Leh and Pathankot all appear on the list of training airports, so this is one of the rare central apprenticeships you can serve without leaving the region.
Be clear on one thing before you apply: there is no J&K quota here. The 205 seats are shared across eleven states and union territories, and where you train depends on the location you register on the portal - AAI says it will post you preferably to your registered location, but the allotted station is final and cannot be changed later.
The stipend is real money by apprenticeship standards - Rs 15,000 a month for graduates, Rs 12,000 for diploma holders and Rs 9,600 for ITI trades - and there is no application fee at all.
The filter that will catch most people is the passing year. Only candidates who cleared their degree or diploma in 2024 or later are eligible.
What you'll do
- Train for 12 months at an AAI airport or office in the Northern Region under the Apprentices Act, 1961
- Work the normal hours of the AAI establishment you are attached to, under its conduct and safety rules
- Sign the apprenticeship contract on the NATS or NAPS portal immediately after joining
- Attend document verification and an interview at the establishment office when called by email
- Produce a medical fitness certificate from a government medical officer at the time of joining
What we're looking for
- SEATS BY DISCIPLINE - GRADUATE / DIPLOMA
- Civil Engineering - 15 graduate, 17 diploma
- Electrical Engineering - 10 graduate, 15 diploma
- Electronics - 10 graduate, 11 diploma

- Mechanical / Automobile - 10 graduate, 6 diploma
- BCA or B.Com - 10 graduate
- ITI TRADE SEATS

- Computer Hardware & Networking - 10
- Totals: 80 graduate, 65 diploma, 60 trade.
- QUALIFICATION
- A full-time regular four-year degree or three-year diploma in one of the streams above, recognised by AICTE. For the trade seats, an ITI or NCVT certificate in the notified trade.
- THE PASSING-YEAR RULE
- Only candidates who passed the degree or diploma in 2024 or later are eligible. Anyone who qualified in 2023 or earlier is out, regardless of marks.

- WHAT DISQUALIFIES YOU
- Having already completed an apprenticeship, terminated one midway, or currently doing one anywhere - including within AAI - at the same qualification level
- A year or more of apprenticeship training or job experience gained after your essential qualification
- Applying for more than one discipline. Every application from that candidate is rejected
- HOW CANDIDATES ARE RANKED
- Provisional selection is on the percentage in the qualifying examination. Where percentages tie, date of birth is used first and date of passing after that. CGPA is converted to a percentage by the norms of your own board or university. Shortlisted candidates are then called by email for document verification and interview, and final selection follows the medical fitness certificate.
- STIPEND
- Graduate apprentices Rs 15,000 a month, made up of Rs 8,850 from AAI and Rs 6,150 from the government through DBT. Diploma apprentices Rs 12,000, being Rs 6,550 and Rs 5,450 on the same split. ITI trade apprentices Rs 9,600 a month.
- WHAT THIS IS NOT
- AAI records in the advertisement that it has no obligation to give regular employment to apprentices and that the training creates no liability on AAI to provide a job. No TA or DA is paid for attending the interview.
