The J&K Public Service Commission has advertised 6 backlog posts at the Government College of Engineering & Technology under the Higher Education Department, through Notification No. 07-PSC (DR-P) of 2026 dated 31 July 2026, on the reference of Higher Education Department No. HED-GAZ/85/2022-04 (157353) dated 01 June 2026. Five are Assistant Professor posts in engineering branches and one is Librarian. They are backlog vacancies of the 1st Special Drive, carried forward from Notification No. 11-PSC(DR-P) of 2023. The window runs from 01 August to 31 August 2026, the same as the other two JKPSC advertisements issued that day, but this is a separate advertisement with its own eligibility - a B.E. or B.Tech background rather than a general Master's degree. Applications are restricted to domiciles of the Union Territory.

What we're looking for

• Open only to domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir
• Assistant Professor in all three engineering branches - a B.E. or B.Tech together with a Master's degree in the relevant branch, with first class or its equivalent in either the B.E./B.Tech or the Master's degree
• Librarian - a good academic record with knowledge of computerisation of the library, and at least 55 per cent marks at Master's level in Library Science, Information Science or Documentation Science, or an equivalent professional degree from an Indian university or an accredited foreign one. 50 per cent applies for SC, ST and differently abled candidates and for PhD holders whose Master's predates 19 September 1991
• Librarian candidates must also have cleared NET, SLET or SET conducted by the UGC, CSIR or AIU
• A PhD awarded under the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure) Regulations 2009 exempts a Librarian candidate from that minimum requirement
• Age is reckoned as on 01 January 2026. Note that the corrigendum of 07 August 2026, which raised the in-service upper age to 45 years, applies to Advt 05 and Advt 06 only - it does not extend to this advertisement
• The corrigendum does however correct the governing rules for this advertisement to the J&K Government Engineering Colleges (Gazetted) Service Recruitment Rules, 2017, SRO 272 of 2017 dated 06.07.2017, in place of the J&K Government Colleges rules cited in the notice itself
