Of the 205, Assistant Professor accounts for 192 posts spread over 27 disciplines, with Chemistry 27, Botany 24, Physics 22 and Zoology 21 the largest blocks; College Director of Physical Education & Sports takes 9 and Librarian 4. Recruitment is under the J&K Education (Gazetted) College Service Recruitment Rules and is open only to domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. What we're looking for
- Open only to domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir
- Assistant Professor - a Master's degree in the concerned, relevant or allied subject with at least 55 per cent marks, or an equivalent grade on a point scale where grading is followed, from an Indian university or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university
- Besides the degree, a candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC such as SLET or SET
- Candidates who obtained their Master's degree before 19 September 1991 are covered by a separate relaxation set out in the notice
- Recruitment is governed by the J&K Education (Gazetted) College Service Recruitment Rules
- A corrigendum dated 07 August 2026 raises the upper age limit for in-service candidates to 45 years as on 01 January 2026
